Cold-chain shipping
An increasing number of pharmaceutical and biotech products require some form of specific temperature control during transit. Often this control is required within thresholds as small as 2–8°C. Cool Logistics offers a range of products and services to clients who wish to move products under strict temperature control, regardless of ambient conditions.
Cool Logistics has been steadily expanding its base in Leighton Buzzard, UK, since 2000. In early 2006, a new 6000ft2 dedicated lab facility was opened to fulfil the exacting qualification requirements of its pharma and biotech customers. With 13 temperature-controlled rooms, it is the largest dedicated testing facility in Europe.
In 2005, SCA purchased 25% of Cool Logistics, which means the company now works in partnership with SCA’s ThermoSafe of North America. The substancial support of SCA allows Cool Logistics to invest in developing global, temperature-controlled packing solutions for customers, and to supply common parts in Europe, South-East Asia and North America. The partnership can supply from six sites, and there are plans to open up two further manufacturing sites in Europe in 2006.
