Alcami, a contract development and manufacturing organisation (CDMO), has finalised the acquisition of Pacific Pharmaceutical Services (PPS), a provider of cGMP pharmaceutical storage and services.
In conjunction with the acquisition of PPS, Alcami is enhancing its presence in central North Carolina’s pharmaceutical storage and services sector by inaugurating a new 65,000ft2 facility.
The facility is located near the Research Triangle Park’s biotech and pharmaceutical hub. The combined impact of the acquisition and the new expansion highlights Alcami’s commitment to strengthening its comprehensive pharmaceutical storage and services business.
Alcami CEO Bill Humphries said: “The Pacific Pharmaceutical Services acquisition is part of our highly intentional strategy to supercharge the capabilities of our pharma storage and services business with locations that best serve biotech and pharma clients across the country.
“With its strategic West Coast location, we can better address bicoastal market needs, improve material safe-guarding from natural disasters with multi-location facilities and support multi-centre clinical trials.
“Adding PPS to the Alcami family cements our status as the U.S. CDMO for West Coast projects as we continue to focus on the stability and security that matters most in the storage of pre-clinical and clinical materials.”
Distinguished by its commitment to personalised and responsive customer care, PPS provides essential controlled storage and material management solutions. These encompass controlled temperature storage, ranging from room temperature down to cryogenic temperatures and material aliquoting.
Additionally, PPS extends its support through clinical labelling services, catering to various stages of the development lifecycle, from pre-clinical to early clinical trials.
Furthermore, PPS specialises in clinical distribution and material management across diverse conditions. Scott Chadwick, the founder of PPS, will maintain his involvement with the company, assuming the position of general manager and site head.
Chadwick said: “I’m proud of the business we built, and look forward to partnering with Alcami. Combining forces enables us to offer clients even more solutions with the same agile, flexible approach that continues to make us successful.”
Clients of PPS will now enjoy immediate access to Alcami’s extensive array of services, spanning from analytical development and testing to complete drug product development and manufacturing. This includes expertise in sterile fill-finish and oral solid dose production.
Likewise, Alcami’s broad client base will gain entry to PPS’ West Coast cGMP pharmaceutical storage capacity and support services. This integration guarantees a seamless experience throughout the Alcami network, encompassing laboratory services, pharmaceutical storage, and manufacturing capabilities.
