LATAM Cargo Chile, LATAM Cargo Colombia and LATAM Cargo Brazil are the cargo subsidiaries of LATAM Airlines. They have access to the belly of the Group’s passenger aircraft and have a fleet of 11 freighters that will gradually expand until reaching 21 freighters by 2023.

They operate within LATAM Group’s network as well as on cargo-only international routes, offering modern infrastructure and a wide range of services and care options to meet our customers' needs.

LATAM Cargo was the first airline in the American continent awarded by the International Aviation Transportation Agency (IATA) with the Center of Excellence of Independent Validators (CEIV) Pharma certification as an airline and is the only certified South American Airline. Its handling services in their Miami hub for PHARMA products are also certified. LATAM Cargo offers an ideal solution for the transportation of pharmaceuticals and related health care products that require temperature control in accordance with the highest international standards, offering both a Passive and Active Pharma solution in cold chain logistics.

Pharma Active and Pharma Passive

LATAM Cargo's expertise in the transportation of pharmaceuticals has allowed the airline to develop specialized products that handle pharmaceutical shipments. The current offerings are Pharma Passive, with 2°C to 8°C, 15°C to 25°C and 2°C to 25°C temperature ranges and Pharma Active, with temperature set points from -30°C to 30°C.

Pharma Active is a specialized product focused in the transportation of high-value medicines and vaccines, that require a specific temperature range throughout the duration of the transportation process. To ensure the maximum compliance of the cold-chain, these sensitive products are transported in active containers (electric or dry iced-based). The added value of this product is the high visibility that it will have during the entire supply chain, with temperature and functionality checks every six hours and physical reviews at every station. LATAM Cargo has leasing agreements with three active container providers: Envirotainer, Dokasch, and C-Safe.

Pharma Passive is a specialized product in the transportation of sensitive medicines and vaccines, that requires a strict cold-chain transportation. LATAM Cargo has developed robust internal procedures to ensure the correct transportation of pharmaceuticals, through refrigerated warehouses and acclimated aircraft holds with adequate segregation processes. In order to continually ensure the compliance of the cold-chain logistics, LATAM Cargo places data-loggers for temperature monitoring and thermal blankets to reduce temperature fluctuations in all of its shipments. LATAM Cargo with its continuous improvement team, monitors and manages the PHARMA product KPIs to ensure the processes are being followed according to internal standard operating procedures. LATAM Cargo has leasing agreements with two passive container providers: Skycell and va-Q-tec.

LATAM Cargo has transported more than 370 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines to South America from Europe, North America, and Asia, including the domestic distribution on our home markets.
