Bürkert Fluid Control Systems - Clean-up act

The company group Bürkert Fluid Control Systems is a manufacturer of measuring, control and regulation systems for liquids and gases, with headquarters in the southern German town of Ingelfingen. The company, which has been family owned since it was founded, has an export ratio of 80%, an investment quota of 7.4%, an R&D share of 8.8% and a proportion of production company trainees of 9.6%. History

The company was founded in 1946 by Christian Bürkert, who wanted to develop innovative technologies for the basic needs of that time. The first products were thermostats for incubators and stoves, which were desperately needed, but by the 1950s the company's focus changed to fluid media.

Locations

In addition to the headquarters in Ingelfingen, Bürkert is present with manufacturing facilities in Criesbach, Gerabronn, Öhringen and in Triembach-au-Val in Alsace. Worldwide, the company is represented by 35 independent subsidiaries in 36 countries. Moreover, there are five Systemhauses for customised system solutions in Criesbach, Dresden, Menden, Charlotte, US, and Suzhou in China.

Products

Products and systems from Bürkert are used in more than 300 different industrial applications - from brewery to laboratory/medical and space technology. The broad product range includes solenoid valves, process and analytical valves, pneumatic actuators and sensors. In addition, Bürkert offers complete systems and application solutions for the comprehensive needs of its customers. Altogether, Bürkert offers all components of the control loop based on coordinated interfaces.

Segmentation

Solutions created through working for a specific industry also serve as valid models for other industries. What has been developed for brewers can also be useful for the high-tech laboratory. Each Bürkert segment thereby combines a range of technologies or physical principles that are common across several traditional industries.

At Bürkert, we distinguish the following segments:

  • water
  • gas
  • hygienic
  • micro.

The Bürkert process organization is a cross-functional form of organization with few interfaces and an immense drive for results.
