
The Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Sanofi, a biopharma company focusing on AI-driven healthcare research and development.
The agreement was formalised at the BIO International Convention 2025 held in Boston, US. The collaboration aims to utilise Abu Dhabi’s health-tech ecosystem and advanced research infrastructure to foster the development of new global vaccines and enhance regional vaccine manufacturing capabilities.
The signing of the MoU took place with the presence of DoH Undersecretary Dr Noura Khamis Al Ghaithi and Sanofi vaccines business development global head Laurie Gery.
DoH health life sciences sector executive director Dr Asma Al Mannaei and Sanofi vaccines Greater Gulf general manager Baptiste de Clarens executed the agreement.
Dr Asma Al Mannaei said: “DoH is partnering with Sanofi to expedite the development of new global vaccines. This initiative aims to shorten the timeline from early research to public availability by utilising advanced technologies, real-time data analysis, and conducting parallel clinical trial phases.
“By combining Sanofi’s global scientific expertise with Abu Dhabi’s state-of-the-art infrastructure, we set new benchmarks for resilience, innovation and international partnerships.
“Abu Dhabi offers a globally connected, purpose-driven environment for leading research and together we will drive a transformative change that will safeguard the health and well-being of our community while contributing to global health security.”
The partnership will focus on streamlining regulatory processes, boosting manufacturing readiness, and encouraging knowledge exchange between local and international experts.
This initiative aligns with Abu Dhabi’s strategic vision to become a hub for bio- and pharmaceutical innovation, reinforcing its dedication to advancing technology-driven healthcare solutions.
Further, the collaboration will enhance clinical research and development planning, optimise resource allocation, and establish foundational terms for funding and access. These efforts aim to strengthen healthcare resilience and sustainability in Abu Dhabi and beyond, improving access to quality care for patients worldwide.
